Google released March Android security update for Nexus Devices

One good news for all Nexus smartphone device users. Google has released security patch level - security updates for nexus devices as it squashes more vulnerabilities on Android. More than 66 percent of all android users are affected because of the monthly android security update. Google said the source code patches for these issues, meant for OEMs and other makers of custom operating system, it will be released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository. 

This Android security update is for different range of nexus smartphones and Tablets. In total, fourteen vulnerabilities will be fixed, i.e. six vulnerabilities that have flagged as “critical” and eight vulnerabilities that are flagged as “high” severity. In addition to this two “moderate” security glitches have also been resolved. Google has issued fixes for a range of operating system versions, including KitKat. The most common critical vulnerabilities are privilege vulnerability, remote code execution vulnerability, remote denial of service vulnerability and mitigation bypass vulnerability.  Information disclosure vulnerability in telephony and elevation of privilege vulnerability in setup wizard are the two modern vulnerability which exists.

To check whether your device has update to the latest security patch, go to Settings -> About Phone and scroll down to Android Security Patch Level. If you see March 1, 2016, your device is current. If your mobile reads some other date, then go to Settings-> About Phone -> System Updates and tap Check for Update. If you don’t own Nexus smartphone or tablets, then you should buy Nexus soon.
